Effective January 1, 2019, the cost of a three-year multiple-entry B1\/B2 visa to the United States (for tourism and business travel) will nearly double, according to the U.S. Embassy in Russia's website.<\/p>\n

The fee will increase based on the "principle of reciprocity" and will be equal to the fee charged by the Russian Federation to US citizens for the same type of visa. Therefore, with the cost of $160 for a three-year visa, the additional fee will be $143, and Russian citizens will have to pay $303 (approximately 21,000 rubles) for this visa.<\/p>\n

The embassy's website notes that Russian citizens will not be charged an additional fee for a US visa valid for up to 12 months; such a visa will cost $160.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the wait time for Russian citizens to obtain a US visa increased significantly in 2017 due to a massive reduction in the number of staff at US embassies and consulates at the request of the Russian government. The wait time for a mandatory visa interview now reaches nine months.<\/p>\n
