At the same time, the head of FAVB Ana Menendez emphasizes that such an action does not infringe on tourists who are already in the city.<\/p>\n<p>\nIt should be added that Barcelona residents have been actively participating in protests and pickets in recent years to draw the city administration&#039;s attention to the problem of overtourism. Several areas of Barcelona consist almost entirely of hotels and holiday apartments, making long-term rental prices too high.<\/p>\n<p>\nFor example, in August 2017, about a hundred Barcelona residents gathered on the city beach to protest against the influx of tourists in the city. The demonstrators wore yellow T-shirts and brought posters.
