Rain and snowstorms to hit Italy

A cyclone is approaching Italy, causing severe weather for the next two days. Heavy rain, snow, and strong winds are expected, according to Centro Meteo Italiano.

An intense Atlantic cyclone will reach the borders of Italy on Wednesday, December 27. Along with it, it will affect almost the entire territory of Heavy precipitation is expected across the country. Heavy rainfall is expected in northern Lombardy, Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. Sicily and Campania will be affected by severe weather on Wednesday evening.

Forecasters predict snowfall at high altitudes in the Apennines, above 1,000 meters in the central and eastern Alps, and up to 7,000 meters in Piedmont. Strong winds are expected on the Italian islands and in the central southern regions.

On Thursday, December 28, rain will continue across much of the country, alternating with snowstorms in the central regions and Emilia-Romagna. A noticeable drop in temperatures is also expected.

Due to potential risks, Italian authorities have issued an "orange weather alert" for the regions of Abruzzo, Lazio, Liguria, Molise, and Umbria. A "yellow alert" has been issued for popular tourist destinations such as Naples, Venice, and Rome. Caution is also advised for those in Sardinia and Sicily.
