Turkish Airlines plans to increase the number of flights on the Istanbul-Sochi route. The company plans to operate daily flights from June 1st, up from the current four weekly flights, according to Travel.ru.
Meanwhile, Saturday flights have been sporadically added to the schedule since April 27, and Tuesday and Thursday flights since June. Daily flights are planned until at least the end of October. The winter schedule currently includes four flights per week, but it's possible this hasn't been adjusted yet.
The schedule remains the same: departure from Istanbul (Ataturk Airport) at 1:05 AM, arriving in Sochi at 2:40 AM. The return flight departs at 4:15 AM, arriving in Istanbul at 6:15 AM. The route uses an Airbus A319 aircraft.
As a reminder, Turkish Airlines already flew daily to Sochi between 2014 and 2016. However, the frequency then dropped to three flights per week during a period of heightened tensions between Russia and Turkey.
Turkish Airlines also expects to increase flight frequency to several other Russian cities this year. Specifically, daily flights may be added from Istanbul to Rostov-on-Don and Kazan.
