Due to heavy snowfall, the Eiffel Tower administration has decided to close the main Parisian landmark to the public for two days – Friday and Saturday. Access to the tower is expected to reopen at 9:30 AM on Sunday, February 11.
Meanwhile, employees of the tower's management company will be clearing snow from the structure's grounds, Interfax reports. They will have to combat the snow without using snow-melting agents, as they could damage the Eiffel Tower's metal structure.
Snowfalls have caused traffic congestion in Paris. Authorities in the French capital have urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Meteorologists are predicting a new wave of precipitation this afternoon.
