Until the end of March, discounts of 15% are available on the pan-European InterRail rail pass. They apply only to the Global Pass, which is valid across the continent. The ticket can be used for 11 months after purchase, until next spring, reports our own correspondent Travel.ru.
When purchased before July 16, a Global Pass ticket for the whole of Europe for adults aged 26 to 59 costs €229 (usually €269) in second class for 5 days of travel within 15 days, €272 (usually €320) for 7 days of travel within a month, €324 (usually €381) for 10 days of travel within a month, €401 (usually €472) for 15 days of travel within a month. €358 instead of €421 for 15 unlimited days of travel in a row, €419 instead of €493 for 22 days. A monthly pass costs €541 instead of €637. The first class option is one and a half times more expensive, for pensioners over 60 it is approximately €10% cheaper.
The fares for young people under 26 under this offer are 177 instead of 208 euros for 5 days out of half a month, 217 euros instead of 255 for 7 days of travel per month, 259 instead of 305 euros for 10 days per month, 320 instead of 376 for 15 days of travel per month. Consecutive passes cost 286 instead of 337 euros for 15 unlimited days, 335 instead of 394 euros for 22 days and 434 instead of 510 euros for a full month.
There are no discounts on InterRail passes for individual countries this time. All discount passes are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, meaning you should only buy them if you are absolutely sure you will be travelling within the next 11 months.
Let us recall that in 2015 a family version of the travel card was introduced. It allows each adult to take two children under 12 years old with them free of charge. However, they must be added to the travel card in advance. In addition, it became possible to buy discount tickets for the high-speed Eurostar, which travels through the Channel Tunnel.
You can buy tickets on the official website www.interrail.eu or at the ticket offices of most European railways. Let us remind you that InterRail allows unlimited travel in second-class seated carriages in a selected country or throughout Europe. For some trains (usually high-speed and night trains), additional seat reservations or surcharges are required. In some countries (France, Spain), travel with InterRail is complicated by high surcharges charged by local railways for using high-speed trains and the almost complete absence of a sensible alternative to such trains on many routes.
