The best tourist routes in Russia have been announced

Experts have announced the winners of the All-Russian Tourism Award "Route of the Year." The winners include "A Cheese Piece of Italy" in Moscow, "The Battle of Rzhev: Kholmets" in Tver, and the urban route "Izhevsk. A Familiar Stranger." This was reported on on the award website.

Around 450 tourism projects from 60 Russian regions competed for the title of "Route of the Year." The jury selected winners in 20 categories. Among them was the "Window to the Past" virtual reality tour in Kazan, which was recognized as the best idea. Along the route, visitors can use a modern gadget to peer into the windows of city buildings and discover what happened there many years ago.

The "Cheese Piece of Italy" tour won the "Best Gastronomic Route" category. Participants visit a farm in the village of Mednoye in the Tver Region and learn about cheese-making traditions.

The "Seliger Gates" tour won the "Best Cultural and Educational Route" category. It takes tourists to the source of the Volga, the Nilovaya Hermitage, the Okovetsky Spring, and a unique 17th-century wooden church in Shirkov Pogost. Another winner was the "Izhevsk: A Familiar Stranger" tour, named "Best Route in the City." The tour introduces visitors to the history, myths, and legends of the industrial city of Izhevsk.

Other recipients of the prestigious Russian award were:

— “Battle of Rzhev: Kholmets” in Tver as the best military-historical route,

— "Votkinsk. Sweet Memories" as the best weekend route,

— “The Golden Prospector’s Trail” in Buryatia as the best adventure route,

— "To the Iron Kings" in Moscow as the best cruise.
