Domodedovo passengers chose Sochi and Dubai for the New Year holidays

Moscow's Domodedovo Airport has summarized its performance during the New Year holidays. Passenger traffic totaled approximately 1.2 million. Sochi was the leading Russian city, while Dubai was the most popular international destination.

 

 

As the TRN portal was told in According to the airport's press service, Russian cities occupied the top five spots in the top 10 domestic and international air route (DFL and IFL) list. Sochi ranks first, with over 58,000 Domodedovo Airport passengers choosing this year-round resort. Simferopol ranked second in terms of traffic volume, St. Petersburg third, and Novosibirsk and Krasnodar fourth and fifth.

Dubai retained its leadership among popular international cities, ranking sixth in the top 10 international and domestic destinations. Munich, Yerevan, Minsk, and Antalya also made the top five most popular international destinations.

Many tourists chose to travel to warmer climates for the New Year holidays. Passenger traffic to traditional beach holiday destinations, including resorts in Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Cyprus, the UAE, Thailand, and Turkey, totaled approximately 130,000. Ski destinations in Russia, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, and Switzerland are also popular.

The highest passenger traffic during the holidays was recorded on December 29th, with over 48,000 passengers departing from Domodedovo Airport. Overall, the airport handled over 86,000 passengers on that day.
