Azimuth will fly from Rostov to Tel Aviv from winter

Azimuth Airlines has opened ticket sales for flights from Rostov-on-Don to Tel Aviv. The route will launch on December 1st and will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, according to Travel.ru.

Departure from Rostov at 9:05, arrival in Tel Aviv at 11:15. Return departure at 12:00.20, arriving in Rostov at 16:25. A Superjet 100 aircraft will be used on this route.

The Rostov-on-Don-Tel Aviv route previously operated uninterrupted for nearly thirty years—from the early 1990s until this spring. It was operated by Donavia, which Rossiya Airlines inherited several years ago. However, within a couple of years, Aeroflot Group, which includes Rossiya Airlines, closed all Donavia routes it had acquired, including the Tel Aviv route.

Azimuth's fares were quite high when sales launched. The minimum standard price, effective since January, is 8,875 rubles one-way and 19,423 rubles round-trip, with no baggage. This price includes only 5 kilograms of carry-on baggage (plus a briefcase or handbag, as well as a laptop, camera, and other personal items). Adding another 5 kilograms costs 355 rubles each way, and adding 23 kilograms of checked baggage costs 2,769 rubles each way.

Thus, the minimum price for a one-way ticket with baggage included is 11,644 rubles and a round-trip ticket is 24,961 rubles. Several carriers offer more economical connecting flights via Moscow or Istanbul.

When purchasing tickets on Azimuth Airlines' website, in most cases, the default inclusion of a paid meal (a sandwich for 284 rubles), a drink (71 rubles), an extra carry-on baggage allowance (355 rubles), and paid insurance (440 rubles) is now included in the ticket. This practice of selling services unsolicited by the customer, while prohibited in the European Union and several other countries, remains widespread in Russia. To cancel unwanted services, click the "Cancel" button or the crosses on the additional services selection page.
