Aeroflot has published a schedule for the transfer of the first batch of flights to the new Sheremetyevo-1 (B) domestic terminal. The transfer will begin on May 3 and will only affect Superjet 100 flights this month, according to Travel.ru.
During the first week, from May 3 to 9, only flights to Saratov will depart from the new terminal. All flights to Voronezh will be added on May 10, flights to Stavropol on May 12, flights to Belgorod on May 13, flights to Syktyvkar on May 14, and flights to Magnitogorsk on May 15.
In addition, some routes will be transferred only to a portion of flights operated by the Superjet 100. These are 3 of 6 daily flights to Perm (from May 14), 1 of 5 flights to Chelyabinsk (from May 15), 1 of 3 flights to Arkhangelsk (from May 16), 1 of 3 departures to Nizhnekamsk (from May 16), 1 of 3 flights to Orenburg (from May 17), and 1 of 3 flights to Surgut (from May 25).
The decision to initially switch only flights to the Superjet 100 has several objectives. First, its parking area is located on the north side of Sheremetyevo's airfield, and the switch will save passengers on these flights the tedious 10-minute bus ride they currently take from Sheremetyevo-3 (D). Second, the Superjet is Aeroflot's smallest aircraft, and any initial difficulties at the new terminal will affect the fewest number of passengers.
As a reminder, there are several ways to reach the new Sheremetyevo Terminal 1 (B), which replaced the old terminal of the same name. First, there's the new underground shuttle from the existing terminals and the Aeroexpress. Second, there's buses 817 and 851 along Leningradskoye Shosse or minibuses 949 or 948 (they travel via the existing terminals). Third, there's bus or minibus 21 from Lobnya station.
Passengers on these flights should allow additional time both for travel to and from the airport (in most cases) and for connecting to any other flights, except those also departing from the new Sheremetyevo-1 (B). The time required to connect to other domestic flights will typically increase by approximately 10-20 minutes, the same as the underground shuttle ride from its Sheremetyevo-2 station to the existing domestic sector. The time required to connect to or from international flights will depend on the terminal and may remain the same in some cases, while in others it will increase by approximately 5-10 minutes.
Unfortunately, the flight rescheduling was announced only at the last minute, with only four days remaining before the rescheduling, all of which were weekends. It's possible that some passengers won't be informed of the rescheduling in time. The terminal's official opening will take place on June 7, and by then, it's likely that many more flights will be operating from there.
