Rostov Airport receives a new bus route

Rostov-on-Don Airport has received regular service to the nearest major city, Novocherkassk. Furthermore, changes to the airport's service to Rostov itself are expected in the coming weeks, according to a Travel.ru correspondent.

Since May 21, 14 bus routes #800 have been operating daily on Novocherkassk. Departures from Novocherkassk railway station at 6:10, 7:15, 7:50, 9:05, 9:20, 10:35, 12:40, 13:50, 14:30, 15:30, 17:00, 18:00, 18:50 and 20:35, and back from the airport at 7:00, 8:10, 8:35, 9:50, 11:20, 12:15, 13:35, 14:35, 15:45, 17:15, 17:50, 19:20, 20:30 and 21:20.

Unfortunately, the route doesn't cover nighttime, meaning it remains difficult to get from Novocherkassk to the airport for the early morning peak departure time—or back from late-night arrivals. This is partly due to the fact that the schedule is tied to the commuter trains passing through Novocherkassk station, connecting Rostov with the northern part of the region.

The fare for route #800 is 50 rubles. It uses small buses. They make stops in central Novocherkassk and at the local bus station, and also pass through the village of Grushevskaya. The total travel time is approximately 35-40 minutes. The airport's connection to another large neighboring city, Shakhty, currently exists only theoretically: some buses and minibuses from Rostov to Shakhty formally stop at the airport, but in practice, they almost never stop there.

Changes are also expected on the Rostov-on-Don route from the airport starting in June. Large buses—route #700—are expected to be added. They will run to the airport from the main railway station via the city center. However, the schedule, ticket prices, stop locations, and other route details have not yet been confirmed. It is also unknown whether the current minibuses #285 and #286, which currently run 24 hours a day, every half hour, from the airport to the main railway station and suburban bus station, respectively, will be retained (and if so, on what schedule).
