Air Astana is switching from Sheremetyevo to Domodedovo.

Air Astana plans to transfer its Moscow flights from Sheremetyevo to Domodedovo when its winter schedule begins on October 27. The reason for this decision was apparently the desire to develop joint flights with Domodedovo-based S7 Airlines, according to Travel.ru's own correspondent.

Aik Astana operates 3-4 flights per day from Kazakhstan to Moscow, and the schedule will not change significantly despite the change of airport. In the winter schedule, departures from Almaty (Alma-Ata) are at 6:45 and 18:55, arriving at Domodedovo at 8:40 and 20:50, respectively. Return departures are at 9:40 and 21:50, arriving in Almaty at 16:55 and 5:15. Departures from Astana (Nur-Sultan) are at 8:30 and 20:45, arriving at Domodedovo at 9:20 and 21:30, respectively. Return departures are at 10:20 and 22:30, arriving in Astana at 16:40 and 4:50. Airbus A321 and A320 aircraft are primarily used on these routes.

Air Astana and Siberia Airlines will likely enter into a codeshare agreement for flights via Domodedovo. This will expand Siberia Airlines' access to the largely closed Kazakhstan market, and Air Astana will be able to offer connections at Domodedovo to Siberia Airlines flights within Russia and Europe. The two carriers previously entered into a similar codeshare agreement, covering flights from Kazakhstan to Siberia Airlines' other bases in Novosibirsk and St. Petersburg, and the possibility of connecting there to flights on numerous routes operated by the Russian airline.

Additionally, on June 4, Air Astana introduced a baggage-free "Basic" fare on its Moscow flights. This was prompted by Aeroflot, which competes with Air Astana on Russian-Kazakhstan routes, introducing baggage-free fares. On August 21, Air Astana also switched to a piece-by-piece baggage allowance—the standard baggage allowance for Economy Class fares is now one piece of 23 kilograms, up from 20 kilograms, with no limit on the number of pieces.
