Air France has decided to eliminate its complex system of multiple subsidiaries with similar functions but different names. This applies to the Hop! and Joon carriers created in recent years, reports Travel.ru.
Hop!, a regional airline operating small aircraft, will soon be rebranded as Air France Hop. This will reduce confusion among passengers who bought an Air France ticket and then learned they were flying Hop!. Many of them are calling the airline, asking which carrier it is, whether Air France's terms and conditions apply, and so on.
As for Joon, to which Air France has transferred several European and even some long-haul routes in recent years, the brand will be completely discontinued. The aircraft and flights will be handed back to Air France. The carrier stated that the creation of Joon was misunderstood by passengers, employees, and investors, and that it created confusion and diluted Air France's brand.
It's likely that aircraft bearing the Hop! and Joon logos will continue to be a common sight at French and some European airports in the coming months. All tickets sold for these flights will remain valid. These flights will be operated either by these carriers or by Air France directly.
