Turkish airline AtlasGlobal has reduced the number of flights from Istanbul to Moscow. Furthermore, the carrier is changing the schedule of these flights from daytime to nighttime, according to a Travel.ru correspondent.
Starting April 25, flights from Istanbul (Ataturk Airport) will depart Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 11:00 PM, arriving in Moscow (Sheremetyevo Airport) at 2:00 AM. Return flights depart at 3:55 AM, arriving in Istanbul at 6:55 AM. Airbus A319 and Airbus A320 aircraft are used on this route.
As a reminder, AtlasGlobal launched this route on September 25th of last year and initially flew to Moscow daily. During the winter, the frequency was reduced to 4-5 departures per week, but the company promised to restore daily flights in the summer schedule. This ultimately did not happen, and in recent months, AtlasGlobal has also reduced its fleet and exited a number of routes in various countries.
As a reminder, AtlasGlobal's remaining Istanbul flights to Russia were recently suspended. Flights from Istanbul to Nizhnekamsk were cancelled back in January, and to Krasnodar in March. AtlasGlobal also cancelled flights from Istanbul to Ukraine and several other European countries. The carrier recently announced plans to fly to St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, and Mineralnye Vody, but at the MITT exhibition in March, company representatives were unable to provide even an approximate reopening date for these routes.
It's unclear whether AtlasGlobal still has such plans. In 2017, AtlasGlobal attempted to launch flights to several Russian cities from Istanbul, but quickly discontinued the flights or even stopped reopening them altogether, ceasing ticket sales. At the same time, as last year, the company plans to fly to several Russian cities from Antalya or Dalaman during the summer holiday season.
