Azimuth made its first flight to distant foreign countries

Azimuth Airlines launched its first flight to a distant foreign country. On December 1, it launched flights from Rostov-on-Don to Tel Aviv, reports Travel.ru.

The 100-seat Superjet 100 carried 94 passengers on its first flight. The return flight from Tel Aviv was approximately three-quarters full. Currently, only 10-15 percent of tickets on this route are sold in Israel, but the carrier expects to increase this figure, said Eduard Teplitsky, CEO of Azimuth Airlines.

The company is also considering plans to launch flights to Tel Aviv and from Krasnodar. This route is tentatively expected to launch next summer (Ural Airlines currently serves the route). Azimuth flies from Rostov to Tel Aviv twice weekly.

Azimuth Airlines plans to launch its first long-haul flight from Krasnodar on December 22, when the Krasnodar-Munich route opens. The company plans to fly from Rostov to Munich this spring. The carrier is also interested in flights to Prague.

Overall, Azimuth is gradually restoring Donavia's former international network from Rostov. In recent years, all of Donavia's international routes (in particular, to Istanbul, Prague, Yerevan, and Tel Aviv) were successively closed by the Aeroflot group following its acquisition by another Aeroflot subsidiary, Rossiya Airlines.
