Azimuth began selling food on board and reduced the number of flights in May

Azimuth Airlines has started selling food and drinks on board its aircraft. The service became available on May 15. The carrier has also reduced the number of May flights on a number of routes, Travel.ru's own correspondent reports.

Passengers can choose from a chicken sandwich (300 roubles), a 40-gram pack of smoked sausages (300), a 45-gram pack of chips (300), a Mars chocolate bar (150), a 40-gram bag of nuts (150), tea or coffee (150), a large can of Tuborg or Baltika 7 beer (300 each). Drinking water is available free of charge on board.

Aeromar became the supplier of paid meals. In addition to meals, SkyShop is also offered - perfumes, souvenirs and the like are sold on board.

The carrier also cancelled individual flights in May on a number of routes and postponed the launch of Rostov-Grozny flights from late April to June. In June, the regular flight schedule is expected to continue without cancellations. The company's executive director Eduard Teplitsky commented on what is happening:

— What explains the cancellation of some flights on many of your routes in May?

— We saw that demand in May was insufficient for our full schedule and only grew by June. That's why we thinned out the schedule on a number of routes. For the same reason, we postponed the start of flights from Rostov to Grozny from late April to June — we found that summer demand there is much higher.

— All this is not connected in any way, for example, with aircraft maintenance?

- No way. We have eight planes - more than enough to service all flights.

— What options do passengers have on cancelled flights?

— They were offered flights on our other flights or a refund.

— Do you transfer to flights of other airlines?

- No, only on our own.

— Can a passenger of a cancelled flight change the route to another suitable one — for example, instead of Ufa-Rostov, fly from Ufa to Krasnodar?

- Yes, it is possible.

— Your second most affordable tariff, “Benefitable,” is now sold either with or without baggage. Why?

— We saw a significant demand for flights without checked baggage and introduced this option on Vygodny. The lower levels of this tariff are baggage-free, the upper ones — with baggage included.

— However, only one of the options for this tariff is available on the website at a time, and it turns out that not all passengers can choose the best option for themselves...

— We will look at how we can improve the presentation of tariffs on the website.

— Are you planning to revise the hand luggage allowance, like some other carriers?

— No, it seems to us that our optimal norm is 10 kilograms, it suits our passengers perfectly, and we see no point in changing it.

— The choice of seats A and C in the aircraft cabin now costs 400 rubles each during online check-in and 500 at the airport instead of the previous 250. Why?

— They are in significant demand during check-in among those who want to fly together without neighbors, and we have slightly raised the price of this service. Those who simply want to choose a seat by the window or by the aisle can still book seats D, E, F for 200 rubles during online check-in.

— Did you somehow adjust the flight schedule depending on the schedule of World Cup matches?

— We are not a charter airline, but a regular airline, and our ability to make such adjustments is limited. Nevertheless, we have quite a few routes between the championship cities and they can be used to fly to a number of matches. In addition, several flights on the Rostov-Saransk and Rostov-Volgograd routes, which we usually do not service, have been specially scheduled for this time.

— Are there any changes in your plans to launch international flights?

— There are no significant ones. By the beginning of summer, we should finally decide on the launch dates and schedule of flights to Yerevan and Bishkek. They may tentatively begin in late summer or early autumn. And we will begin flights to distant foreign countries this year.
