Velvet season: great deals

According to statistics, hotel prices in coastal cities will be lower in September compared to August. Experts at momondo.ru shared data on which destinations will be the most affordable this fall.

The cheapest trip for Russians in September will be to Pattaya – the average nightly rate for a hotel there is 2,096 rubles, compared to 2,540 rubles in August. Another international destination, Rimini, ranks second in the affordable resort rankings, with room rates dropping by 621 rubles – the maximum savings travelers can take advantage of this season. A vacation in Nha Trang is slightly more expensive, with a nightly rate at the Vietnamese resort costing 2,794 rubles. However, compared to August rates, this is a 411 rubles reduction. Turkey and Cyprus round out the top ten, with average prices of 3,874 rubles in Antalya and 4,572 rubles in Larnaca.

Among Russian destinations, Lazarevskoye offers the most attractive price tag – it's one of the three best domestic resort destinations, with a hotel room rate of 2,604 rubles per night, 271 rubles below the August offer. Adler, a slightly less budget-friendly option, will delight vacationers with a 251 rubles per night price reduction in September: from 4,001 rubles to 2,958 rubles. Anapa and Gelendzhik also made the list, with trips to these cities costing 3,556 rubles per night. Price trends for the two destinations also differ very little: -181 rubles per night in Gelendzhik and -141 rubles per night in Anapa.

A survey of respondents from Russia also revealed that 45% travelers prefer hotels to rental housing, hostels, campsites, and the like, while no more than 24% are willing to save on accommodation during their vacation. The largest group of respondents (48%) budgets between 1,500 and 3,900 rubles per night for accommodation. Hotels in the 3-5 star category were the most popular, and when searching for a hotel, Russians primarily consider guest ratings and reviews of service quality (58%) and proximity to the beach (52%).

Where are Russians heading?

Overall, most Russians still prefer beach vacations. According to an international survey conducted previously by momondo, 631,333 Russians were planning at least one trip to the seaside. As the season nears its end, the situation hasn't changed much: Antalya and Larnaca remain more popular than Rome and Prague. However, it's unclear whether Russian travelers vacation more often at home or abroad. The most popular destinations, according to flight searches on momondo.ru, include both Russian and international cities equally.

Sochi leads the list of the most popular destinations for Russians by a significant margin, followed by Barcelona and Antalya – one of two "representatives" of the best deals in the ranking. Another affordable resort, Larnaca, ranks only eighth.
