Some of Sheremetyevo's Aeroexpress trains have been extended to Odintsovo.

Aeroexpress, the company that operates commuter trains from Moscow's airports to the city, has extended select services on the Sheremetyevo route to Odintsovo. These services have been running twice daily since July 4, and three times daily on weekends, according to a Travel.ru correspondent.

Technically, this isn't even an extension of the Aeroexpress service, but simply an additional trip for the train arriving from Sheremetyevo on the Belorussky Station–Odintsovo route. It operates on this route as a regular commuter train, using standard Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPPK) tickets. Thus, an Aeroexpress train from Belorussky Station to Setun, for example, costs 36 rubles, and to Odintsovo, 69.

However, passengers starting their journey on the same train from Sheremetyevo Airport do not have to pay anything extra in addition to their Aeroexpress ticket. A trip from the airport to any station on the Belorussky Station-Odintsovo route will cost them the standard 500 rubles (for a single ticket from a ticket office or vending machine), 450 rubles (with a pre-booked online ticket), 850 rubles for a roundtrip, and so on.

There are two such departures from Sheremetyevo: at 5:00 and 21:00. These trains arrive at Belorussky Station at 5:35 and 21:35, respectively, depart at 5:47 and 21:44, and after a dozen stops at various platforms, arrive in Odintsovo at 6:25 and 22:22. On weekends, an additional train leaves Sheremetyevo at 11:00, departs Belorussky Station from 11:35 to 11:47, arriving in Odintsovo at 12:25.

Return departures from Odintsovo on weekdays are at 6:48 and 22:36, arriving at Belorussky at 7:23 and 23:12, with onward departures at 7:30 and 23:30, arriving at Sheremetyevo at 8:06 and 0:05. On weekends, an additional flight departs from Odintsovo at 12:49, stopping at Belorussky from 13:25 to 13:30, arriving at Sheremetyevo at 14:05.

Interestingly, Aeroexpress trains are among the slowest on the Odintsovo route (regular commuter trains often take 31-35 minutes). Nevertheless, for residents of this route, they offer a fairly convenient, albeit expensive, way to travel to Sheremetyevo Airport.

However, a twice-daily frequency, especially during off-peak hours, is unlikely to boost the popularity of this initiative. Aeroexpress stated that these flights are a pilot project, the results of which will determine whether they should be made permanent.

Please note that on the Belorussky Station - Odintsovo section, in addition to Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPPC) tickets, only various paper and electronic single-use Aeroexpress tickets (listed above) are valid. Aeroexpress passes are not valid on this section. Furthermore, tickets paid for with bank cards or Troika cards at Aeroexpress turnstiles at Sheremetyevo Airport are not valid, as they cannot be presented to inspectors at the Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPPC) or at Aeroexpress turnstiles.
