Vaccinations are required for travel to Brazil.

The Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation (Rostourism) informs travelers planning a trip to Brazil about stricter requirements for tourists visiting the country due to the challenging yellow fever epidemiological situation. Brazilian authorities have decided to screen all passengers departing from the country's airports. Every foreigner must have an international yellow fever vaccination certificate. In addition, transit passengers who have spent 12 hours or more in Brazilian airports will also be screened.

In this regard, Rostourism reports that several airlines operating flights from Brazil have tightened boarding controls for flights to Latin American countries, requiring passengers to provide proof of vaccination. The agency recommends that Russian citizens traveling to Brazil take this information into account.

As a reminder, in mid-January 2018, the World Health Organization advised against tourists visiting the Brazilian states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Minas Gerais without a yellow fever vaccination, where an increase in cases has been recorded.

Rostourism urges tour operators to inform their clients about the need for vaccination and the mandatory receipt of an internationally recognized certificate. The yellow fever vaccination must be administered at least 10 days before departure. Immunity to the disease is lifelong.

Yellow fever is a dangerous infectious disease spread by mosquito bites in countries with hot, humid climates.
