Research: What tourists bring back from vacation as gifts for their loved ones

"What should I bring as a gift?" is a question that almost always arises for those on vacation. It's great if you have time to carefully choose a present, but often, most people start looking for gifts on the very last day of their vacation. And the gift isn't always suits the recipient's taste.

 

 

As the company's press service told TRN, to ensure expectations were consistent with reality, Tutu.ru asked users what they would most like to receive as a gift from friends and family returning from vacation. Three thousand respondents participated in the survey.

A quarter of respondents would be most pleased with sanctioned products: cheese, ham, sausage, and other delicacies (25%). Slightly fewer (22%) would be pleased with local wine or any other alcoholic beverage. The survey showed that Russians are more pleased to receive sweets as gifts (11%) than spices (7%). Magnets would be more appreciated (11%) than souvenirs (8%). 9% of respondents would like to receive local money from relatives or friends as a vacation gift, and 7% voted for clothing with an original print.

Previously, Tutu.ru surveyed travelers themselves about the souvenirs they most often bring back from vacation. The majority (69%) return from their trips with something in mind. Of these, 23% bring home a fridge magnet, 22% buy food or local spices. 16% choose memorable souvenirs (plates, figurines, animal figurines, thimbles, paintings, etc.). Less popular were "buying clothes or shoes" (6%) and "buying jewelry" (2%). And 31% said they don't buy souvenirs because they feel they don't have the money.
