Study: Interest in short 2-4 night trips growing

One of the trends in tourism is the growing interest among travelers in short trips (2-4 nights with flights). The travel service Tutu.ru decided to measure tourists' preference for such trips. More than 1,500 respondents participated in the survey.

As the company told TRN, overall, the majority (65%) have a positive attitude toward such trips. A third of respondents (29%) admitted they enjoy flying if they can find cheap tickets. 8% fly on short, inexpensive tours. 15% would be happy to take such a mini-vacation and fly somewhere, but haven't been able to yet. 14% were found to enjoy short trips but get there by car, train, or bus rather than by plane.

35% respondents opposed 2-4 night trips with flights. Of these, 12% believed it was a waste of money, while 23% said they preferred to take a full vacation and relax for at least a week.

An analysis of data on tours and airline tickets purchased on Tutu.ru confirms this trend.

"Overall, there's demand for short tours (2-4 days). Package tours account for approximately 101,000,000 of our sales. In 2018, we saw a slight decline in popularity, but since the beginning of this year, people have started asking again for weekend tours. These are primarily, of course, trips within Russia or to visa-free destinations with a short flight, such as Turkey and Cyprus. Short trips are also popular, for example, among those wishing to visit the Czech Republic," says Anastasia Shtripling, head of the "Tours" project at the travel service Tutu.ru. "As for custom tours, a quarter of the offerings are designed for weekends. Their popularity in this segment is likely due to people's desire to spend their short weekends in an active and unusual way, and the packed programs of custom tours are precisely designed for this purpose."
