From Moscow to Ruskeala Mountain Park without transfers

For travelers looking to relax during the New Year and Christmas holidays in the Karelian mountain park "Ruskeala," Russian Railways has organized a direct, nonstop service.

 

 

Direct compartment carriage on the Moscow- Ruskeala will operate from January 1 to January 7, 2020, with two trains: No. 159/160 Moscow - Petrozavodsk and the retro train "Ruskeala Express" No. 921/922 Sortavala - Ruskeala.

Departing from Moscow's Leningradsky Station at 4:00 PM, train #159 will arrive in Sortavala at 6:34 AM the following day and continue on to Ruskeala Mountain Park as part of the retro train "Ruskeala Express." Passengers will arrive at the mountain park at 11:50 AM.

Passengers in the direct carriage will depart from Ruskeala at 5:30 PM as part of the retro train "Ruskeala Express." Upon arrival in Sortavala at 6:35 PM, the carriage will join train No. 160 Petrozavodsk-Moscow. Arrival in Moscow is scheduled for 10:16 AM the following day.

Along the route, the direct carriage will make stops at the following stations: Tver, Chudovo, Saint Petersburg (Ladozhsky Station), Beloostrov, Zelenogorsk, Vyborg, Khiitola, Elisenvaara, Yakkima, Sortavala.

Travelers won't have to worry about planning connecting routes, buying additional tickets, or transferring. Furthermore, while waiting for the retro train to depart for Ruskeala Mountain Park, passengers will have the opportunity to take a self-guided stroll through the historic center of Sortavala.

Tickets for direct carriages are available at all long-distance railway ticket offices, on the official Russian Railways website (pass.rzd.ru), and through the "RZD Passengers" mobile app. Tickets range from 1,797 to 1,999 rubles. We also want to point out that special offers will be available for various categories of passengers (e.g., pensioners, schoolchildren, and students) starting December 3, 2019. For example, passengers under 21 and over 60 will receive a discount of 30% for a ticket, and for round-trip tickets, a discount of 20%.
