Most tourists who traveled to Russia in 2019 visited one or two cities, according to 28% respondents to a survey conducted by the online hotel booking service Ostrovok.ru. The service's analysts asked tourists to report how many Russian cities they visited. have visited over the past year. More than 5,000 social media users participated in the survey.

Moreover, among tourists who chose this answer option, there were more women (31%). Among men, a similar number of cities were visited (24%).
Another 211,300 respondents said they had visited three or four Russian cities in the past year. Interestingly, women were more likely to choose this option than men (221,300 women versus 191,300 men). A total of 141,300 men and 141,300 women each said they had visited five to seven Russian cities in the past year.
Another 12% respondents reported visiting more than eight Russian cities in 2019, with significantly more men (17%) than women (8%). While 8% men traveled to eight to ten Russian cities, this response was half as popular among women (4%).
About 31,000 men reported visiting 11-15 cities (among women, only 11,000 had similar experiences). This year, 61,000 men visited more than 15 cities, compared to only 31,000 women.
However, not all Russians managed to travel within Russia in 2019: 25% of respondents reported not having traveled to other cities during the year.
According to Ostrovok.ru, the most popular Russian cities in terms of hotel bookings in 2019 were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Sevastopol, Yalta, Kazan, Krasnaya Polyana, Massandra, Yekaterinburg, and Kaliningrad.
