Most tourists who traveled abroad in 2019 visited one or two cities, according to 20% respondents to a survey conducted by the online hotel booking service Ostrovok.ru.
So, the company's experts asked tourists to tell how much They visited 100 foreign cities over the past year. More than 5,000 social media users participated in the survey.
Among respondents who visited one or two cities, slightly more women (221,300) visited. A similar number of men visited 171,300 cities. The number of tourists who visited three or four cities abroad was half that (101,300). 111,300 women and 91,300 men made such trips. A slightly smaller number (81,300) visited five to seven cities abroad, including 71,300 men and 81,300 women.
Of the tourists who visited more than eight cities abroad in 2019, 41% visited 8-10 destinations, and another 41% visited 11-15 destinations. Only 31% of Russians visited more than 15 cities in a single year. The survey also revealed that more men than women did not travel abroad in 2019 – 57% and 48%, respectively.
According to Ostrovok.ru, the most popular foreign cities in terms of the number of hotels booked in 2019 were: Paris, Barcelona, Prague, Rome, Berlin, Warsaw, Nice, Istanbul, Milan, and London.
