Entry into Russia may be simplified for Chinese tourists

The requirements for the number of short-term group trips for tourists from China to Russia are planned to be reduced, according to Kirill Adzinov, Head of the Department for Permit and Visa Issues at the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“We have short-term visa-free "Group travel from China. Moreover, we are currently planning to reduce the group size requirement from five to three. Our relations are developing very positively, and there are no threatening factors such as mass public disorder or travel evasion," he said, according to RIA Novosti.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that in 2018, organized Chinese tourism to Russia increased by almost 20%, and this figure is projected to continue growing in 2019. However, representatives of the Russian tourism industry are not at all happy about this prospect: for several years now, experts have been publicly stating that visitors from the Middle Kingdom bring virtually no benefit to the Russian economy. Moreover, "employees" of Chinese travel agencies are taking jobs from their Russian counterparts.
