Summer in Small Towns: A Rating of Destinations

Russian accommodation booking service Tvil.ru has identified small Russian cities that are popular for travel and vacations in August.

The rating was prepared based on data from tourists booking accommodation in the private sector from August 1 to 31, 2018.

In the top ten small towns, Popular destinations for travel in August include: Bakhchisaray in Crimea, Lakhdenpokhya in Karelia, Krymsk in Krasnodar Krai, Zelenogradsk in Kaliningrad Oblast, Pereslavl-Zalessky and Uglich in Yaroslavl Oblast, Belokurikha in Altai Krai, Kirillov in Vologda Oblast, Zhigulevsk in Samara Oblast, and Yegoryevsk in Moscow Oblast.

According to Tvil.ru, tourists book trips and vacations in small towns during the last month of summer for periods of 2 to 8 nights and spend between 1,700 and 2,700 rubles per night per family on accommodation.

The cheapest places are in Bakhchisarai (on average, 1,500 rubles per day) and Uglich (1,700 rubles).

  • Lakhdenpokhya, Karelia - 2.7 thousand rubles / 5.5 nights
  • Krymsk, Krasnodar Krai — 2,700 rubles/6 nights
  • Zelenogradsk, Kaliningrad region — 2.2 thousand rubles/8 nights
  • Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl Oblast — 2,600 rubles/7 nights
  • Belokurikha, Altai Krai — 2,100 rubles/8 nights
  • Kirillov, Vologda Oblast — 2,300 rubles/3 nights
  • Zhigulevsk, Samara Oblast — 2,800 rubles/2 nights
  • Yegoryevsk, Moscow region — 2.7 thousand rubles/2 nights
  • Uglich, Yaroslavl region — 1.7 thousand rubles/3 nights.
