Lufthansa will add a fifth flight and an Airbus A330 to the Frankfurt-Moscow route this summer.

Lufthansa plans to introduce a fifth daily flight between Frankfurt and Moscow for two summer months. Unlike other flights, this additional service will be operated by a wide-body Airbus A330, according to Travel.ru.

The World Cup was apparently the reason for this flight's designation. The flight is scheduled from June 1 to July 31, meaning it will open two weeks before the tournament opens and will operate for two weeks afterward. It does not operate on Fridays, with the exception of June 15.

This will be the earliest departure from Frankfurt, at 7:00 AM, arriving in Moscow (Domodedovo Airport) at 11:10 AM. Since it's difficult to connect from Lufthansa's European flights, the majority of passengers will likely be arriving from Asia or America, as well as residents of Frankfurt and the surrounding area. The return flight from Moscow departs at 12:50 PM, arriving in Frankfurt at 3:15 PM.

Ticket sales have just opened. It's worth noting that on some dates, tickets for this flight are significantly cheaper than Lufthansa's four other daily flights on this route. On the summer schedule, the remaining flights depart at 8:30, 12:55, 17:25, and 18:55 from Frankfurt, and at 6:05, 9:05, 13:35, and 18:00 from Moscow. These flights primarily use Airbus A320s, but during the World Cup, almost all flights are scheduled to use the more spacious Airbus A321.

Regarding the fifth summer flight on the Airbus A330, this will be Lufthansa's first scheduled flight to Russia on a wide-body aircraft in decades. This means, among other things, that all passengers will receive an in-flight entertainment system, there will be a Premium Economy Class, and Business Class passengers will receive lie-flat beds instead of standard Economy Class seats.
