A strike by staff at Girona Airport, located in northeastern Catalonia, is expected on September 8 and 12, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Crisis Management Center (CMC) reported on Wednesday, Interfax reported.

"Spain - September 8, 12 - staff strike Girona-Costa Brava International Airport (GRO); flight schedule changes are possible," the DSCC tweeted.
According to Spanish media, the strike is planned due to the failure to pay employees of Segurisa Servicios Integrales, the company that provides airport security, additional wages stipulated by labor law, in particular for operating X-ray equipment and for working beyond established working hours.
