As reported by Krabi's PR service, provincial authorities began inspecting hotels, bars, and other tourism establishments on Phi Phi Island on Monday, according to Phuket News.

Hotels and guesthouses are being checked for compliance with the legal requirement to transfer personal data. All foreign visitors are reported to the Immigration Bureau. Bars and nightclubs are inspected for possible drug trafficking and non-compliance with operating hours regulations. In addition, inspections are conducted for unauthorized building modifications, labor violations, tax evasion, and the use of nominee Thai shareholders by foreign business owners.
According to preliminary information, several hotels have already been caught failing to report guest information to the Immigration Bureau, and cases of illegal building renovations have also been discovered. Furthermore, a dive center was temporarily closed due to exceeding its quota for the number of foreign employees hired, who were also involved in selling tours.
The provincial PR service's statement also mentioned a resort complex that was allegedly located in a protected natural area and had violated local laws.
