A 450-room hotel complex will be built near Domodedovo Airport as part of the Moscow Aerotropolis.
On November 13, 2019, Moscow Domodedovo Airport took part in the business breakfast “Transformation of the Commercial Real Estate Market. Results” "Ten-Year Development," which was held at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. Alexey Ulitin, Development Director of the Moscow Aerotropolis, spoke on the topic "Moscow Aerotropolis – A New Ecosystem for Business," the airport's press service reported.
The Moscow Aerotropolis will be a new urban entity based on the commercial development of land around the airport. Within a 20-kilometer radius of Domodedovo, the new urban development will be developed according to a cluster principle. The first phase is planned to include the development of six clusters: an airport city, a retail and recreational cluster, a business park, an expo cluster, an industrial cluster, and an agricultural cluster.
"The cluster development concept was developed based on successful global experience in developing airport areas. Commercial real estate projects will be implemented within the Moscow Aerotropolis. These include office, industrial, and warehouse properties, hotels and apartments, as well as infrastructure for retail, leisure, and entertainment," said Alexey Ulitin.
He spoke about the first significant projects of the Moscow Aerotropolis, the implementation of which began this year. One of them is the construction of a world-class hotel complex, with Granel as the investor. The partner is the international operator InterContinental Hotels Group. The total area is 35,000 square meters.
The project includes two hotels: a five-star Crown Plaza and a three-star Holiday Inn Express. The complex will be connected to the airport's passenger terminal via a covered pedestrian walkway. The hotel complex will have 450 rooms.
An agreement to build a Holiday Inn was also signed at SPIEF 2019. It will be part of a 20-hectare multifunctional complex, including a business center, shopping mall, parking, and roadside service facilities. The 148-room hotel will be managed by the international operator InterContinental Hotels Group.
