The Musée de la Poupée, located in the Marais district of central Paris, has been forced to close after 23 years of operation. Doll lovers can only see the museum's ancient permanent collection until September 15.
As Euromag reports.ru, the reason for the museum's closure was financial difficulties caused by a decrease in tourist flow to Paris and the need to renovate the building where the exhibition was located. The family of collectors who opened the museum in 1994 have not received any government or sponsor funding over the years, despite the fact that the doll museum is the only one of its kind in the French capital.
The private Doll Museum's collection contains about 500 exhibits, displayed in 40 display cases. Most of the dolls date from 1800 to 1959.
