Russian accommodation booking service Tvil.ru has named the most popular cities and towns in the regions of Russia among tourists-pilgrims. The rating is based on the results of an analysis of hotel and house bookings over the past year.

On the eve of Easter, the top five most popular ones are: Pilgrimage tourism sites include Sergiev Posad in the Moscow region, Valaam Island in the Sortavala district of the Republic of Karelia, the village of Diveevo in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Rostov the Great in the Yaroslavl region and Solovki in the Arkhangelsk region.

TOP 5 places popular with pilgrim tourists:

Sergiev Posad (Moscow region) — 2.6 thousand rubles per day/ 2 nights *

Valaam (Sortavala, Karelia) — 3.3 thousand rubles per day/ 2 nights

Diveevo (Nizhny Novgorod region) - 3.5 thousand rubles / 1.5 nights

Rostov Veliky (Yaroslavl region) - 1.7 thousand rubles / 2 nights

Solovki (Arkhangelsk region) - 2.6 thousand rubles / 2 nights
