
On May 12-13, the traditional Smelt Festival will be held in St. Petersburg, according to Travel.ru. This event annually attracts thousands of residents and tourists who celebrate the small fish that has become one of St. Petersburg's symbols.
The Lenexpo Exhibition Complex will traditionally host the festival. The program includes a fishing competition, the release of salmon fry into the Gulf of Finland, games, contests, quizzes, concerts, exhibitions, workshops, sports competitions, and, of course, a wide variety of fish dishes.
During the festival, a fish market and souvenir fair will be open at Lenexpo. In addition, everyone in attendance will be treated to "General's Fish Soup."
The Smelt Festival is a family event. A children's area with its own entertainment and workshops will be organized for the youngest guests. Tickets to the festival cost 300 rubles.
