The Russian President signed a decree renaming airports.

Today, May 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree naming 44 Russian airports. The corresponding document was published on the official legal information portal.

 

 

For example, Sheremetyevo Airport was named after A.S. Pushkin, Vnukovo will be named after Andrei Tupolev, and Domodedovo will be named after Mikhail Lomonosov. Simferopol International Airport will be named after I.K. Aivazovsky, Sochi Airport will be named after V.I. Sevostyanov, Krasnoyarsk Airport will be named after D.A. Hvorostovsky, and Anapa International Airport will be named after V.K. Kokkinaki.

We would also like to add that new names for the airports were chosen independently by the country's residents in the All-Russian competition "Great Names of Russia," which concluded on December 4.
