Direct flights will connect Crimea with Turkey and Armenia

Direct international flights to Turkey and Armenia may open from Crimea as early as this year, according to Alexey Chernyak, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism, Resorts, and Sports of the Republic's State Council.

The Ikar company, which is part of the group Pegas Fly, a company with the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), received approval for seven weekly flights from Yerevan to Simferopol. They are currently planning to begin with two flights this spring, closer to summer. The airline is currently working on concluding contracts with airports and securing lots," he said, according to TASS.

In addition, according to Alexey Chernyak, the launch of direct flights to Istanbul is currently being considered. "We hope that after the joint launch of TurkStream, we will be able to jointly implement this," he added.
