Russian Railways plans to open ticket sales for all domestic long-distance trains 90 days before departure, up from the current 60. The changes will take effect with the introduction of the new schedule on December 10, according to a Travel.ru correspondent.
Thus, if on December 9th, tickets for most trains will only be available until February 6th, then on December 10th, tickets will be available for all trains up until March 9th, on December 11th – up until March 10th, and so on.
This innovation will simplify matters for passengers who plan their trips in advance. At the same time, it means that the cheapest tickets will often expire 90-80 days before departure, rather than the current 60-50 days.
Please note that in certain cases, the sales horizon may be reduced. This primarily applies to the introduction of new schedules (affecting departures in late May, June, the second half of December, and January), line maintenance work, the introduction of new trains, and the like. Furthermore, sales opening dates for trains operated by foreign railways within Russia may be different.
