
Today, the Russian Museum, located in St. Petersburg, celebrates the 120th anniversary of its opening. One of the country's largest museums, the Russian Museum, has waived its entrance fee in honor of the anniversary. Admission is free not only to the museum's main building, but also to all its branches.
Free tickets are available at the museum box office from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on March 19. The Mikhailovsky Palace and the Benois Wing will be open until 8:00 PM today. In honor of the anniversary, musical performances will be held at all palaces at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM, Interfax reports.
The Russian Museum opened to the public on March 19, 1898. The exhibition featured works of art from the Winter, Gatchina, and Alexander Palaces, the Hermitage, the Academy of Arts, and private collections. In total, the museum houses 400,000 items, spanning the history of Russian art over more than a thousand years.
