S7 Airlines plans to double the number of flights from Moscow to Saransk this fall. Meanwhile, Aeroflot Group appears to be planning to permanently leave Mordovia, according to a Travel.ru correspondent.
Aeroflot closed ticket sales for its Moscow-Saransk flights on September 17. Following the World Cup, the carrier had already reduced the number of flights to Saransk from two to one per day, even though the route had only been launched this spring. Another Aeroflot Group airline, Pobeda, had cancelled flights to Saransk even earlier, even though it had also only launched them last winter.
It's likely that, starting September 17, Siberia Airlines will remain the only airline flying to Saransk (in addition to its daily Moscow flights, the carrier also operates two weekly flights from St. Petersburg). Starting September 1, the number of Moscow flights will double. A morning flight will be added to the existing evening flight.
Starting September 1, flights from Moscow (Domodedovo Airport) will depart at 8:30 a.m. and 6:05 p.m., arriving in Saransk at 9:55 a.m. and 7:35 p.m., respectively. Return flights will depart at 10:35 a.m. and 8:15 p.m., arriving in Moscow at 12:10 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.
The route uses an Embraer 170 aircraft. One-way tickets start at 2,941 rubles without baggage or seat selection, and 3,441 rubles with baggage.
