As Dimitris Charitidis emphasized, at the end of summer in Greece, hot weather almost always sets in, and gusty winds blow, which is why the threat of fires is quite high. "In such a situation, the relevant services are closely monitoring the situation in all regions of the country. The fires that occur almost never reach populated areas and resort areas, so there are no inconveniences for Russians vacationing in Greece during this period," he said.
Commenting on the situation on the island of Euboea, the expert specified that the island is located 80 kilometers from the capital of the country, but there is no mass flow of travelers from Russia. “Only individual tourists can be on the island. The Greeks are concerned about the situation on Euboea, as there is a nature reserve there, one of the few in Greece. But people on the island, including local residents, are not in danger, although everything is prepared for evacuation just in case. The situation is calm at popular resorts in Greece, there is no danger of fire. Many tourists do not even know that forests are burning somewhere.
