Russian tourists are not canceling trips to the Chinese island of Hainan. According to tour operators, cancellations are isolated, and the travelers themselves, who are on vacation, remain calm and do not plan to return home earlier than planned term.
Let us recall that on December 31 last year, the Chinese authorities reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) an outbreak of pneumonia of an unknown type recorded in the city of Wuhan. A little later, the causative agent of the disease was identified - coronavirus 2019-nCoV. At the moment, Wuhan is effectively isolated: air traffic with the city has been suspended, including flights to Moscow. In addition, public transport is not operating there, and local residents are advised to stay in their homes and apartments. At the moment, cases of infection have also been recorded in South Korea, Japan and Thailand.
However, the situation on Hainan Island, which is popular among tourists, is currently stable. According to information from the host company of the tour operator ANEX Tour, There are no cases of infection with the virus on the island. "Colleagues regularly receive updated statistics from the Hainan Provincial Disease Control Center. All necessary preventive measures have been taken at the airports to ensure the safety and health of all arriving passengers. Every tourist who arrives from mainland China undergoes a thorough medical examination," the ANEX Tour press service said.
They also emphasized that the tour operator is in touch with the receiving office and the insurance company, and receives daily updated information on the situation in Hainan to ensure control over the safety and well-being of tourists. "Tourists who are on Hainan Island continue their vacation until the end of the tour. Cancellations are isolated," ANEX Tour clarified.
In turn, the press service TEZ TOUR reported that sales of tours to resorts on Hainan Island are proceeding as usual, all flight programs of the tour operator are being carried out in full in accordance with the planned schedule. "We continue to monitor the development of the situation, are in constant contact with our specialists on the ground and promptly inform our clients about the current situation in the region," the company said.
They also noted that there are isolated tour cancellations for the nearest dates, but they are still not widespread. "Each cancellation request is currently considered individually. When tourists decide to cancel a trip and provided that the tour is booked for the nearest dates, we certainly try to take into account the current circumstances and negotiate with partners to minimize fines for our clients," TEZ TOUR added.
