The season's biggest competitions have concluded in the mountains of Sochi.

On March 30, 2018, the interregional competitions "The Southern Federal District Alpine Skiing Championship" and "The Krasnodar Krai Championship" concluded at the Gorki Gorod resort. These are official competitions for participants aged 9 to 16, who are members of the United A calendar of national and international sporting events. This is the fourth year they have been held on the slopes of the Circus-2 zone. This year, the competition attracted a record number of participants—approximately 200 young athletes from across the country competed in the special slalom and giant slalom disciplines.

Weather conditions above 2,000 meters were truly extreme throughout the four days of the competition. Wind and fog created almost daily challenges for athletes and organizers.

Eduard Dyatlov, head of the operational services department at the Gorki Gorod resort, says"The most important thing when holding such a competition is clear visibility, so the start and finish areas are visible. At some times, even this wasn't possible—starts had to be stopped after the first attempt. However, all participants gave it their all, and the competition took place! For everyone, it was a great experience in honing their skills—both organizational and athletic."

The competition organizers are the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Krasnodar Territory, the State Budgetary Institution of the Krasnodar Territory "TsOP po ZVS", the Krasnodar Regional Public Organization "Federation of Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Freestyle", and the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sochi City Administration.

The main goals of the alpine skiing championship are to improve the level of athletic skill, improve sports categories, and train a sports reserve.
