The first stone was laid for the foundation of the future new ski resort "Khekhtsir" in Khabarovsk, the city administration press service reported.
"The modern track will allow for international competitions to be held. In the summer, it will be possible to "mountain biking, extreme sports. I think that the future ski resort will attract tourists, including from neighboring regions of our country," said the city's mayor, Sergei Kravchuk.
The ski resort, which was previously called Spartak, is located 25 kilometers from the regional center on the slope of the Bolshoy Khekhtsir mountain range. The city administration decided to repair the dilapidated ski slopes, update the equipment, and in the future - attract investment and carry out a complete reconstruction of the sports facility, turning it into a ski resort. According to experts, the conditions for this are the most suitable: unique nature, a 430-meter difference in altitude and the ability to equip 22 kilometers of slopes.
Before the design of the sports complex began, an online survey was conducted among city residents in Khabarovsk to choose a new name for the ski resort. About 2 thousand options were submitted to the jury. However, the name "Khekhtsir" won the voting. It was proposed by Khabarovsk resident Inessa Sizykh. At the ceremony, she received a certificate for 150 thousand rubles.
This year, survey work and the procedure for transferring the land plot to municipal ownership will begin on the mountain ridge. Specialists will also conduct a topographic survey and determine the business model for the entire complex. The anchor investor of the project will be JSC "Center for Innovative Technologies of the City of Khabarovsk". 260 million rubles have been allocated for the initial work. To implement all the grandiose plans, namely: construction of a hotel and a small resort town; rental points; restaurants and other resort infrastructure, the city authorities intend to attract investors from abroad.
