A deputy minister will oversee the tourism industry at the Ministry of Economic Development; this position is currently vacant, Interfax reports.
In September, President Vladimir Putin issued a decree transferring regulatory functions in the sphere from the Ministry of Culture to the Ministry of Economic Development tourism. In particular, the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) was transferred to the Ministry of Economic Development.
Until now, the Ministry of Economic Development has not commented on possible structural changes within the agency itself in connection with the emergence of a new topic.
On Friday, Minister Maxim Oreshkin told reporters that a new division would be established within the Ministry of Economic Development.
"We'll have a special department, and we'll decide on a deputy soon. Now we need to go through all the bureaucratic procedures," he noted.
“This will be a new deputy, he has not yet been appointed,” the minister said.
