The ski season opened at the Elbrus resort last weekend.

This Saturday, December 1, the 2018/19 ski season opened at the Elbrus resort in Kabardino-Balkaria.

"Over two thousand tourists vacationed at the resort during the first weekend. The ski slopes were open for them from the Gara-Bashi station to the "Krugozor." Temperatures at the top of the cable car, which remains the highest in Europe, reached -10 degrees Celsius," reported the official website of JSC "Resorts of the North Caucasus."

Incidentally, Khisa Bekkaev, CEO of Elbrus Resort JSC, noted that the ski resort is ready to welcome tourists. While there's still a bit of snow, the third-stage slopes are already open for skiing.

Khasan Timizhev, CEO of JSC North Caucasus Resorts, also reported that not all slopes are open yet, and a promotional rate has been developed for the launch of the ski season.

"One lift from the Azau station to the Gara-Bashi station and a full day of skiing will cost 1,600 rubles for an adult and 800 rubles for a child, including voluntary medical insurance," Timizhev said in a statement.

He also noted that the resort's cable cars were closed for maintenance on December 3rd, but skiing would resume on December 4th.
