The best representatives of the hospitality industry were awarded in Moscow.

On December 11, 2019, the Guiding Star Tourism and Hotel Industry Awards ceremony took place at the Helikon Opera Theatre in Moscow. This is the only professional tourism award in Moscow, awarded The awards, presented by the Moscow City Tourism Committee, celebrate their 20th anniversary this year.

The winners of the Guiding Star award create comfort and make the capital a popular tourist destination. This standard of capital hospitality must be maintained at a high level. And through joint efforts, we ensure that every tourist and every resident admires Moscow—the best city on earth," noted the Chairperson of the Moscow Tourism Committee. Ekaterina Pronicheva.

The anniversary "Guiding Star" awards were a special and memorable event. Winners were selected in 15 nominations, which for the first time were grouped into five categories: "Accommodation," "Leisure," "Gastronomy," "Comfort and Impressions," "Media," and special nominations. Also new were the "Best for Children" and "Moscow Online" nominations. The winners were traditionally selected by an expert council, but the opinions of city residents were also taken into account: on the "Active Citizen" website, Muscovites voted for the best festivals and cultural projects, as well as the best places to visit with children in the capital.

The Helikon Opera Musical Theatre, located in one of Moscow's oldest estates, served as the venue for the awards ceremony. The ceremony itself took the form of literary and theatrical readings from the popular Moscow project "Unprincipled Readings." The project was represented by its resident and co-founder, writer Alexander Tsypkin, and renowned artist-in-residence Anna Mikhalkova and Evgeny Stychkin. Stories by Alexander Tsypkin, Alexander Malenkov, and Alexander Snegirev were read from the theatre's stage. The unifying theme of all the stories was love in Moscow.

More than 500 guests representing the capital's tourism industry attended the ceremony, including general managers of hotel chains, capital attractions, publishers, editors-in-chief of television channels and travel publications, TV presenters, hotel industry experts, and many others.

The Guiding Star Award is a non-profit professional competition for Moscow's tourism and hotel industry. Established by the Moscow Government in 1999, the award is held annually to improve the quality of tourism services, encourage innovative initiatives, and foster a positive image of the capital as a tourist destination.
