It will be impossible to get to Red Square in Moscow on New Year's Eve

On the night of December 31st to January 1st, access to Red Square in Moscow will be closed due to the filming of the "Blue Light" program for Channel One. Moscow authorities do not plan to hold any events there.

According to Interfax, Alexander Kibovsky, head of the Moscow City Hall's Department of Culture, reminded the public at a special press conference that the Red Square area is under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant's Office, not city services. According to the official, Muscovites and visitors to the capital will be able to choose from a variety of festive venues across Moscow to celebrate the New Year. In particular, events on Tverskaya Street, which will be pedestrianized for the holiday, will begin on the afternoon of December 31.
