Vietnam Airlines to Replace Domodedovo with Sheremetyevo

Vietnam Airlines has announced the transfer of its Moscow flights from Domodedovo Airport to Sheremetyevo. The transition will take place on July 2, reports Travel.ru's own correspondent.

The frequency of flights will remain unchanged - three times a week on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, but the schedule will change significantly. The flight from Hanoi to Moscow will become a night flight (departing around midnight and arriving at Sheremetyevo at 6.45) instead of the current daytime flight, arriving at Domodedovo at 17.00. The return flight to Hanoi will also shift in time and become less convenient - departure from Moscow at 14.40 instead of 19.00 and, accordingly, arrival in Hanoi at about 3.30 instead of the current 7.55. In Moscow, the Sheremetyevo-3 (D) terminal will be used.

For now, tickets are being sold according to the old schedule, and Domodedovo is still listed among them. Passengers who bought such tickets for July and later months will probably be able to get a refund without penalty if they do not want to agree to the new schedule.

The move is explained by Vietnam Airlines' desire to offer connections in Moscow with Aeroflot flights, which is also part of the SkyTeam alliance. This concerns domestic Russian routes, and possibly some European ones. It is likely that the carriers will sign a codeshare agreement on such routes. Apparently, the change in the Hanoi flight schedule is connected with the desire to improve connecting opportunities for transit passengers.
