A cable car will be launched from Prague 6 to Prague Zoo

In Prague, they are planning to build a cable car that will allow people to get from different parts of the city to the largest zoo in Europe, writes Hospodarske Noviny.

The authorities of the Czech capital, together with the city transport company Ropid, intend to launch a cable car by 2024. road. It will connect the Podbaba district (Prague 6) with the Bohnice district (Prague 8). The line will pass over the Vltava River and will allow quick access to Prague Zoo.

According to the authors of the project, the funicular will reduce the duration of the trip between the terminal stations by a third and relieve the bus routes. The cable car will help to abandon cars when traveling to the zoo. In addition, it promises to be the most environmentally friendly form of transport in the entire city.

The cable car is planned to operate from 5 a.m. to midnight. The fare is the same as other types of public transport. The journey from one district to another will take no more than seven minutes, and the waiting time will be no more than one minute. The cable car will transport from 2,000 to 4,000 passengers per hour. 

In 1851, the Petřín Funicular was built in the capital of the Czech Republic, taking residents and visitors of the city up the slope of the hill of the same name. In 1965, its operation was interrupted for 20 years due to frequent landslides. In 1985, the funicular was relaunched. The line has three stations: Újezd, Nebozízek and Petřín at the top of the hill. Not far from the final station is the Petřín Observation Tower. The cost of a ride on the funicular is 25 crowns (75 rubles).

The Prague Zoo is one of the top five in the world. It has more than 5,000 animals, including panthers, tigers, elephants, giraffes, Galapagos tortoises and many others. The zoo is open daily from 09:00 to 18:00. The entrance fee is 200 crowns (almost 600 rubles).

In October 2018, Moscow also plans to launch a cable car that will connect the capital's Luzhniki Stadium and Vorobyovy Gory. Initially, it was supposed to be operational by the World Cup. However, the facility did not have time to undergo an expert assessment on time. The length of the road will be 737 meters, and the travel time will be 20 minutes. There are three stations along the way - on Kosygina Street, Vorobyovskaya and Luzhnetskaya Embankments. The cost of the trip for tourists is 400-500 rubles.
