Most Russians will spend their vacations at home or at their dachas this summer. This choice is primarily driven by financial constraints, according to the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) research.
According to the data received, 45% Russian citizens will spend the summer at home, and 34% will spend the summer at dacha. Moreover, our compatriots cited a lack of money as the main reason for not traveling. This answer was received from 441,000 Russians surveyed. Furthermore, 181,000 respondents are prevented from traveling outside their hometown by family matters, and 151,000 by work. 141,000 respondents plan to visit other Russian cities during their vacation, and 121,000 plan to visit Black Sea resorts. One in ten respondents (91,000) plans to vacation in Crimea this summer. Only 41,000 Russians plan to vacation abroad.
In 2018, our compatriots planning a vacation away from home intend to spend an average of 44,205 rubles per person on their vacation. This is 111,031 rubles more than last year. Interestingly, 451,031 Russians will pay for their trip with funds specifically set aside for it. 41,031 respondents will take out a vacation loan.
It's worth noting that nearly a quarter of Russians—241%—hope they'll have a better vacation this summer than last. 631% of Russians don't expect any changes, and one in ten—91%—fear their vacation will be worse.
