The first fairy-tale tourist routes that will take tourists deep into the Arctic Circle will soon appear in the Tazovsky District of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO). This was reported to TURIZM by the author of the cultural and tourist project "Fairy-tale Map of Russia" Alexey Kozlovsky.
According to the expert, local authorities together with the district residents have chosen two heroes from local legends to promote Yamal: the shaman Sir Tadebya and the girl Sihirtya. They will introduce tourists coming to this northern region not only to the legends of the region, but also to gastronomic traditions, stories about national mythological and totem animals, and much more.
It is planned that tourist routes, united by the names of mythological heroes, will connect all the villages of the Tazovsky district: Antipayuta, Gaz-Sale, Tazovsky, Gyda and Nakhodka. In addition, Sir Tabedya and Sikhirtya will represent the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District at many exhibitions and festivals dedicated to tourism in Russia.
The introduction to new images on the “Fairytale Map of Russia” will take place on August 11, 2018, as part of the folklore festival “Iskra Ochaga”, dedicated to the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples in 2018.
In addition to the heroes themselves, guests will be treated to a tasting of national cuisine, a Malosol Festival and a Tea Festival, master classes on weaving a traditional belt on a loom and making a “Minley – the Bird of Happiness” amulet, shows of national clothing and performances by local folk groups.
